The Inyova community is made up of inspiring impact investors, and we want you to get to know each other better! That’s why we publish Investor Stories, a monthly feature where an Inyova impact investor shares their investment journey.
Meet Coline!
Coline, 29, is from France and lives in Berlin. She works in digital marketing, and when she’s not busy at work, she likes to read sci-fi novels and try new sports such as ballet and roller skating. When the sun is out, you can catch her hanging out with friends in the park.
Tell us what a day in the life of Coline looks like!
My weekdays are busy planning and managing online marketing campaigns. In the evenings I like to read, watch Netflix, meet with friends or exercise. During the weekends, I switch between more reading and being active, visiting museums and going out for drinks.
How long have you been investing with Inyova?
Since January 2022. ♀️
Tell us about your first time investing…
In early 2017, fresh out of college , I moved from France to Ireland where the health insurance and pension systems are very different. By the end of the year, realising that I wasn’t actually saving for my retirement (the last thing I was thinking about at 25), my father helped me open a savings account in order to start building capital for later.
In one word, describe how you felt when you made your first investment. Why did you feel that way?
I had mixed feelings! I was scared because I had to think about the future 40 years from now and I didn’t understand much about investing. But I also felt empowered because I was able to use my newly acquired financial independence for something bigger than just shopping.
What motivated you to start investing?
Moving countries every so often due to work. Different countries mean different systems, different amounts saved etc. Investing is a way for me to ensure that whatever I do and wherever I decide to live next, I have a safety net thanks to what I’m investing every month. ♀️ While retirement money is my main long-term goal, I also hope to be able to afford to invest in real estate.
What investment topics are you passionate about?
The main topic I’m interested in is climate change and investing in companies that are fighting it. For example, green energy, clean modes of transportation, more sustainable agriculture and plant-based food. And I believe Human Rights is a part of this fight, too.
What would you say to someone who doesn’t think investing is for them?
It’s not about investing an excessive part of your salary in companies and then never seeing where it goes or what it does. Investing can be done with a small amount of money. It can be done in an easy and transparent way, and the return will be worth it. Because we all have long-term goals and dreams.✨
What would you say to someone just starting their investment story?
Congratulations on taking that first very important step! Let’s ask each other questions and share information and advice.
Anything else you would like to add?
Investing is a frightening and exciting journey that can get very frustrating and confusing given all the different and conflicting information out there. Let’s make it clearer, more transparent, and easier while still effective, so that everyone can invest in their own and our planet’s future!
