Meet Marie!
Marie, 24, is from Switzerland and lives in St. Gallen. She’s a Customer Success Intern at… Inyova! ♀️ Marie was actually an Inyova investor before joining the team. Here’s how she went from trading in crypto to sustainable investing and ended up working for Inyova.
Tell us what a day in the life of Marie looks like!
I start my day by missing 3 alarm clocks – I am not a morning person! So I’m usually in a hurry before starting work. On days that I head into the Zurich office, I swing by the vegan bakery called Bakery Bakery and grab a croissant and some berries. At work, I talk to the lovely Inyova impact investors and help them out with anything they need. I also chat (maybe a bit too much) with my colleagues. After work, I’ll grab a drink with friends… or head home and cook a delicious vegan meal.
How long have you been investing with Inyova?
I started investing with Inyova in 2020 – back when it was still called Yova.
Tell us about your first time investing…
Before I started investing with Inyova, I was trying my hand at crypto, but I had two issues with it:
- It got addictive and I had very little knowledge about it.
- I realised that I didn’t want to support crypto due to its negative impact on the environment.
So, when I heard about Inyova through an event at the University of St. Gallen, I thought it was a brilliant idea and a good long-term fit. I had a small amount of money in my bank account and I knew I didn’t just want it to sit there, so I invested with Inyova.
In one word, describe how you felt when you made your first investment. Why did you feel that way?
When I was investing in crypto, I felt nervous. I was constantly refreshing the page. But with Inyova I felt like I was in good hands – no volatile changes, addictive page refreshing, rather the trust that a team of experts are ensuring that the companies in my profile are sustainable.
What motivated you to start investing?
I didn’t want my money to just sit in a bank account and I think that long-term investing is a great opportunity to build wealth. I also think companies like Inyova can help bring systemic change to the financial sector, which is exactly what we need to fix this hot mess.
What investment topics are you passionate about?
There’s no particular subject that I like more than another. However, I do think that for the world to become more sustainable, systems will have to merge together and collaborate to fix crises such as climate change.
What would you say to someone who doesn’t think investing is for them?
If you have money in the bank, you are indirectly investing anyway, so you may as well take control of your money and make sure it’s being invested in companies you believe in and want to support.
What would you say to someone just starting their investment story?
Don’t refresh your investment dashboard every day! It’ll just give you unnecessary stress. And if you have questions about your portfolio, contact the person in charge of it – they’ll be happy to help and they don’t expect you to be an expert. There’s no shame in being a curious beginner!
