We are excited to announce the addition of Tomra Systems (TOM.OL) to your portfolio. Tomra is a Norwegian global leader in reverse vending and sensor-based sorting technology, perfectly aligning with our philosophy of investing in companies that solve real-world problems. Their machines are used at supermarkets in many countries of Europe to return empty bottles and cans.
Why we added Tomra to your portfolio:
- Clear impact case: As the category inventor of the reverse vending machine in 1972, Tomra’s core impact lies in driving a circular economy through Clean Loop Recycling. With roughly 87,000 installations worldwide collecting over 48 billion drink containers annually, Tomra plays a vital role in keeping waste out of landfills and oceans.
- Significant long-term potential: Tomra is set to benefit from a decade of mandatory recycling growth. Strict EU rules require 90% of beverage containers to be collected by 2029. This creates a long runway for growth as new markets roll out: Poland and Portugal are launching now and the UK is following in October 2027.
- Strategic entry timing: Whilst Tomra’s recycling division recently went through a temporary market slowdown, demand is starting to bounce back, with new orders picking up again in Q2 2026. We are keeping an eye on rising competition and their expansion into markets beyond Europe, but Tomra’s 50-year head start and reliable technology give it a durable competitive edge.
Overall, Tomra shows a fantastic combination of sustainability and investment potential.
As we move forward, we continue to look for new impactful companies that show strong financial upside potential.
